Remembering Husain
23 September 2011
The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art celebrated late master artist M F Husain’s birth anniversary with sixty students of the Fine Arts Department of Jamia Milia Islamia and the HCL employees and their families. Guest of Honour, M F Husain’s son Shamshad Husain, paid a tribute to his father. Known as the Picasso of India, MF Husain was the face of Modern Indian art in international art circuits for a long time. His art was geared towards inventing a visual language that captured the essence of India and its diversity, the amalgamation of cultures and richness of colours, forms, languages, symbols and faith. An illustrated lecture by Roobina Karode on Husain’s life and works was followed by the screening of two of his early films made in late 1960s – Through the Eyes of a Painter and Of Gods and Men.
