Aai-Bo-Kaate : An Experience of Syncretism

Join us for a specially curated event on the very special day of National Independence Day of India. City As Museum, KNMA collaborates with Tales of City to jointly bring you an enriching experience of witnessing the tradition of Pantang-baazi (Kite flying) in Old-Delhi’s skies celebrating the ethos of freedom and the spirit of syncretism. Kick starting with a session of Daastangoi, we celebrate not just the stories of togetherness but also remember the wounds of Partition through Daastan-e-Fahmida, story of a Urdu shaiyra/ poetess. The event culminates with fireworks against the silhouette of Old Delhi skyline, and setting aflame the air-borne lamps of joy and unity, and truly cherishing the coming together of diversity.

The Qutub Minar Complex – Exploring the Roots of a Composite Culture

Join us for our upcoming walk of the Qutub Minar Complex, part of our ‘City as Museum’ series led by historian and author Swapna Liddle. This walk leads us through one of Delhi’s most important historic sites, its structures spanning several centuries of Delhi’s history. A special focus on the development of forms and motifs, and a discussion of little-known inscriptions, will help trace the contours of the development of a North Indian style of architecture, and its social and political underpinnings.

Monsoon Ramblings Around The Ridge

Come walk with Pradip Krishen and explore the natural world of a dry forest in the monsoon! Delhi's Ridge forest erupts with new life – annuals germinating, lianas spiralling up into the trees, Papeehas calling, jackal pups mewling, termite queens whooshing out of tiny holes like smoke! Pradip has been walking here with his dogs for the last 40 years and is writing a journal-style book about all the fascinating things you can see on the 'Rutputty' Ridge.

CITY OF STARS
