Enchanting Tales

8^th December – 1^st January

2020 has been an incredible year for many reasons. Marked by a deadly virus, worldwide lockdowns, closures of schools and institutions, social distancing and cancellation of events, storytellers and artists have come together to reignite hope. The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art in collaboration with Delhi Storytellers’ Tribe has provided a platform for seven storytellers to come together and share their love of stories to produce “Enchanting Tales”. With five stories spread over five weeks, children and adults alike can tune into the joy of Christmas tales for the festive season.

Story 1 | How Fir Tree Became the Christmas Tree!

The first of the series has Dr Shivani Kanodia telling the story of ‘How the fir tree became the Christmas Tree!’. Narrated in a draw and tell format, this story will warm up listeners of all ages. After all, what is Christmas without a Christmas tree!

Story 2 | Santa’s Gift

The second session features Shalini Bansal and Seema Wahi Mukherjee who come together to narrate a musical story called ‘Santa’s Gifts’. With songs and puppets, engrossing and exciting, put this on your to do list for Christmas!

Story 3 | When Santa Got Kidnapped!

The third story in the series is presented by Rituparna Ghosh, she narrates a classic Christmas story by L Frank Baum. Hilariously funny, ‘When Santa got Kidnapped!’ is a must watch for all!

Story 4 | Christmas Charms

The fourth installment features Shubha Das and Archana Chandel bring to you an intrinsic part of Christmas celebrations, they follow the story of Christmas ornaments. What happens to them after Christmas? Listen in and find out.

Story 5 | Happy, Finally!

Kapil Pandey wraps up the series with a story, that marks new beginnings symbolic of a new year. A retelling of Oscar Wilde’s “The Happy Prince” he shares the wonderful idea of having a ‘giving’ year for adults and children alike.

These stories are a mix of original stories, classical retellings and adaptations performed in varied styles. Each story is unique but are sure to delight listeners of all ages from near and far. Enjoy the festive spirit as you listen along to all these wonderful tales! In what began as a group of 4 storytellers, Shalini Bansal, Seema Wahi Mukherjee, Shivani Kanodia and Rituparna Ghosh, the network in March grew to include three more storytellers, Kapil Pandey, Archana Chandel and Shubha Das. Through the year DST presented a range of storytelling events & shows including a fund-raiser to assist families affected by covid-19. “It was our common love for stories that brought us together. It’s amazing that despite the notions of lockdown & social distancing, Delhi Storytellers’ Tribe has managed to bring story listeners together in the virtual world,” said Kapil Pandey.
